Thrifted Finds and More Paper Goodies

This week I had a productive visit to Goodwill Blue Hanger, where I acquired the following treasures:

A huge set of old hymn books to add to vintage paper packages:

A gorgeous Peter Pan Pop Up Book. I haven't decided how to use this one yet.

The irresistible Barrel of Monkeys. These are going into the Fun and Games Paper Goodies packages as wells as the Goodie Jars that will join the shop in a few weeks.

Also, recently I began to love the illustrations of the old Whitman card games. Here are some examples. They will soon find a new home in the next round of Paper Goodies with a Storybook theme.

This super-cute Paperchase mug is at Borders right now for $1.35! Wah-hoo!

Chiquita loves to help with photography.

Also, 3 more sets of Fun and Games Paper Goodies are in the shop. Paper LOVE!

Paper Goodies are Now in the Shop

I've been collecting vintage board games and card games for months now. I have so many it's kinda embarrassing! I plan to use the boards for a project later this year. The game pieces and parts are just so fun, though. Because I've won some of the games as ebay lots, a few are really weird. For example, the Fall Guy board game and the Mork and Mindy game!

So I'm putting together little packages of papers and bits from all of the games I have. You can find this in the shop right now! WOWEE. This collection of vintage papers, etc. is called "Fun and Games." I had a fit of glee designing the label for it. I love JT Ringmaster font. I'm talking LOVE here.

Later, I'll be putting together another collection called "Storybook." to share some of my collection of vintage children's books. I'm spending my evenings cutting, cutting, cutting, in an effort to compile a lovely set of packages.

Borders, Ready Made, and Vintage Board Games

This was an awesome first-day-of-the-weekend!

I completed 2 custom orders and mailed off my first etsy sales this week. Thank you to my supportive family for giving me my first 3 sales!

1) One of the owners of the very cool Yachats shop Raindogs suggested that I check out the magazine ReadyMade, which I had never heard of (bad grammar, I know). I found it at Borders today and I am loving that magazine. Yes I am.

2) Also, thanks to Borders: a slew of Paperchase goodies. DARN that Paperchase and at the same time, I exhault Paperchase. AHHHH! Below, their vexingly low-priced "mag bags" and one of their new lines of paper products called "Pet Chopz." It is very cute indeed. The bags are cute, but the vinyl on the straps cracks over time (painful) and there are no pockets like MY bags. But still, they are very desirable and functional.

3) An update on the vintage game collecting:

Today, a 1956 Chutes and Ladders game arrived. Check flickr for photos of the growing collection and what the parts become when I dismember them!

4) I discovered Re-Ment and Cram Cream. Lord help me.

5) Finally, after much deliberation and MANY hours of searching, I have selected six fabrics for fall bags. Amy Butler and Robert Kaufman are 2 of the familiar (to me) designers in this bunch. Also included are Michael Miller and Alexander Henry. I am quite pleased with the final selections! Here is a peek at the fabric swatches:

Until the next time...xxxooo

Weekend Adventures

Hello Reader. Have I thanked you recently for visiting my little blog?

If I could summarize the weekend in one word, it would be "resin." However, a few other activities were squeezed in.

First, I finally made a batch of bottlecap magnets using UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel). I had a 40% off coupon at Michaels, so I sprung for the melting pot thing-y and it is super easy to use. The results:

Also, H. and I did a little thrift shopping in Salado, and found a few neat things between a garage sale and a new antiquey-book store. I am especially excited about the game boards. I have big plans for those babies. also I found a neat link on how to clean game boards. Check out that fortune-telling book. YES. I've already started slicing it up.

Last night, I poured a first layer of resin in my 3 molds (that took about 2 hours to clean out from the first attempt disaster). They look great this morning. I used the resin stuff that comes in a can and it is most toxic. Stick with Easy Craft. We were high all night, but not in a good way. For batch #2, I have some very cute transparency images and paper to layer in. Egggs-cellent! (twiddling fingers like Mr. Burns).
